After beating their Ado peers fairly easily 0 - 4 last week, the O16 had to go to The Hague again this week for the cup game against the O17. With 4 14-year-olds in the starting line-up against an opponent with largely 2 years older players, Saturday's match against the physically much tougher ADO was a completely different game than the week before.


PSV certainly did not play a bad game, especially in the first half. However, ADO managed to score at the right moments so PSV was actually trailing the whole match. Early in the match Gaétan misjudged a cross that gave the ADO striker free passage to Mike, who left him without a chance from a tight shot into the left corner. PSV managed to stay in the game after this early deficit and equalized with a nice goal after half an hour. After a good action in the penalty area, Cody put the ball well down for the on-rushing Justin who took a hard shot and drove the ball into the Hague goal via the left post, 1-1. Soon, however, PSV suffered their 2nd setback. Less than 5 minutes after the equalizer, Ado took the lead again when Lars lost his man on a cross from the left, allowing Lars to head in the 2-1 at the far post.


Again at a crucial moment - shortly after the start of the second half - ADO managed to score again. In a confusing situation in the 16 the ball came from the left in front of the goal and via Mike it fell at the feet of an ADO player who then ran it over the goal line. PSV could not recover from this setback. The team was unable to make things difficult for ADO and many players were visibly tired.


Despite the loss and especially given the age and physical difference, this was certainly not a disappointing performance by the O16.
Next week the league match at home against Brabant United is scheduled.
