PSV washes away bad taste against Feyenoord
The fact that training and winning do not always go hand in hand was demonstrated once again in the solid week O16 faced this week. On Tuesday, the team played an excellent match in Amsterdam against Ajax, which undeservedly took the win in the final stages. On Saturday, the team already had the chance to revenge for that defeat, stealing three points from Feyenoord at the Herdgang after a weak first half according to some.
Without playing PSV off the mat completely, the first half last Saturday was entirely for Feyenoord. PSV were late or a meter short everywhere and Feyenoord showed more commitment and aggression at every position. Although PSV had the first big chance of the game - Ilyas sent Milan on to the Feyenoord goalkeeper with a fine pass as early as the second minute but the striker's effort went wide - Feyenoord needed too many chances to score. Either the post got in the way or goalkeeper Jules intervened superbly when Feyenoord cut through the PSV defense with a combination.
After being woken up by the trainers at halftime, a team with a completely different face appeared on the pitch in the second half. PSV fought their way into the match and created some great chances, especially in the first twenty minutes. Already in the 6th minute after half-time, the team rewarded itself for the changed match attitude and enabled Naïm Milan to shoot in the 1-0 from close range. Although Feyenoord also created a number of good chances in the second half, the Rotterdammers failed to score a goal and had to watch as PSV pulled the 1-0 across the line. Milan almost made it 2-0 with a real striker's move when he got the ball at his feet in a full sixty-yard area, cut free to his right leg and lashed straight in, but his shot was well caught by the keeper. 2-0 would have been a long way off, especially given the match pattern of the first half.
Lineup: Jules Jansen; D'Leanu Arts - Jenson Seelt - Nawaaz Landfeld © - Deveron Fonville ('47 Mo Nassoh); Naïm Matoug - Joep Kluskens ('41 Cel Teunen) - Dylan Hopman; Jasper Huizer ('77 Dyon Dorenbosch) - Milan van de Riet - Ilyas Bougafer.
Corrigendum
At the express request of D'Leanu Arts: completely wrong in and contrary to the truth, the report of the PSV-ADO match stated that the assist on the first goal came from Jasper's foot. Jasper did not pay for this, it was nothing more than a mistake by your reporter. Once again: JASPER SORRY
