After a Period of Dining, Parties and good intentions, today it was time for the real thing: Football !
Many a motivated sportsman is waiting for this period, the end of the winter break.
Also for the D2 this winter break had lasted long enough. Back on those football outfits and onto that green mat. Today's guest was Baronie. Here played an "old" friend. Namely Raphaël Nartey.
Those who were late to the meeting had already missed two goals by Cody. The first came from a loss of ball by Baronie where Cody was in between and slid in next to the goalkeeper, the other from a nice lob over the goalkeeper. After three minutes 2-0.
After four minutes first chance for Baronie, but Luc made a fine tackle at the right moment and worked away before the visitors could become dangerous. Up front things were good and so were those at the back. It could be a difficult day for the visitors.
That was underlined after six minutes by Amar, he got the ball perfectly offered by Justin and popped in the short corner. 3-0.
Jordan with the fine cross to Cody, but "Cood" chose control instead of the header, and away was the chance. He had something nice in mind.
But creating chances went smoothly, and throughout the first half Baronie seemed the plaything of an elated PSV.
After 15 minutes, a penalty kick followed for PSV, after a slightly too showy handball in the sixteen. Justin pops the penalty in. 4-0.
Jordan takes his chance with a distance shot, but the goalkeeper saves. After Amar-Justin played together, Huseyin got possession of the ball and shot 5-0.
Until then all nice attacks and nice chances, let us say, "it went well".
Just before halftime Baronie gets another chance but they conclude with a shot on the crossbar. Pepijn liked to see it happen. Pep until then just some return balls, nothing else. Boring stuff for a goalkeeper. But he too enjoyed what was happening in front of him.
The halftime score was 5-0.
After halftime a completely different Baronie, with a chance after only 1 minute, but Arne was caught in the middle.
Two minutes later, visitors free kick, and it falls right under the crossbar, 5-1.
PSV playing around at the back is in my humble opinion a bit too nonchalant, another shot by Baronie follows, this time the shot goes just over. PSV plays with fire.
The home team's answer follows a little later, cross from the right by Amar and Roland takes over in one go and leaves the goalkeeper no chance. 6-1.
A lateral pass at the back is intercepted by Raphael straight at goal, but he does not get past Arne.
James is able to head in at a corner kick but his header is swept off the line. James and later Robin have a chance to make it 7-1 but the visitors' goalkeeper is always in the right place.
Final score 6-1.
The first half was good, but in the second half I missed the will to send Baronie back to Breda. Although it has to be said that Baronie played a fine second half. But if it's already 5-0 at halftime... start there lol.
The year has started well and the boys have digested the festive period well. The cannon is on point, which bodes well for the rest of the season.
Partying is fun, but long live football !
