Without the technical staff giving it much publicity, today's match was quite special. A win would make this the first team of PSV to become champion. The boys seemed to be aware of this, as the game started nervously.
After DBS had already missed a chance in the first minute, they scored in the fourth minute. Joel K had no chance against a shot from the opposing team. Three minutes later Shurandy prevented the opponent from advancing to the goal with a great sliding tackle. But only 1 minute later he could not prevent it from becoming 2-0. Once awake, the boys had to show that not only can they play football but that they also have resilience. In the 12th minute the tying goal followed, with a fantastic pass Dani put Damian free in front of goal who finished off nicely
2-1. Fortunately they found their way forward again, after Jochem hit the top of the crossbar and Dani hit the underside of the crossbar. Lars rounded off an assist from Damian very coolly 2-2. We still had to watch our backs, but we did not create many chances. Just before half time PSV did take the lead. A shot by Jamie hit the bar, but Damian then delivered the ball to the free Niels, who had no trouble scoring, 2-3.
Probably due to inspiring words from trainer Mart, more pressure was applied immediately after halftime. Which soon led to a goal. Two minutes into the second half Jamie delivered the ball to Lars, who reached Damian with a truly world class pass. As usual Damian knew what to do with it, 4-2. DBS made a few more dangerous breaks, but each time our defenders Shurandy and Niels were in the right place and otherwise there was always Joël K, who saved a number of times. Halfway through the second half the decision followed. Jochem laid on for a corner and delivered the ball to Jamie, who controlled the ball well and neatly shot in the 2-5. One more goal was scored Jochem came up well from behind and with a fine pass he reached Shurandy, who was not selfish and saw Jamie standing free. Of course Jamie didn't give up and made it 2-6.
After 8 wins and with 2 games to go, the championship was achieved. A great result considering the group has only been playing together for 3 months.
