The report
Today the match against AZ was scheduled and we knew beforehand that we were facing a good footballing opponent. But PSV was well prepared for the game, they started putting good pressure on the AZ defense from the kickoff.
This also led to a good attack on the left with Mohamed Amine Ihattaren and Nigel Thomas and Dennis Vos getting to the back line. He wanted to play the ball back, but unfortunately it was intercepted by an AZ defender. In the 13th minute, it was Sekou Sidibe who played himself free nicely and entered the sixteen-meter area, but he was taken to the ground with a foul by an AZ defender and for that the referee could give nothing but a penalty. The penalty kick was taken by Sekou Sidibe himself, but unfortunately his effort was stopped by the AZ goalkeeper and so it remained 0-0. Shortly afterwards another nice attack over the left. Dennis Vos reached the back line again and wanted to put the ball back, but again an AZ defender intervened. In the 40th minute Mohamed Amine Ihattaren had a chance to make it 1-0, but due to good goalkeeping the ball was turned into a corner. And so the first half ended.
The second half started well for PSV, but AZ got better and better at the game they wanted to play. They were able to play the ball around well so we could only defend. But PSV's defense stood well and they gave away almost no chances. In the 68th minute there was a nice attack by PSV through Sekou Sidibe. He played a deep ball to Mohamed Amine Ihattaren, who in turn shot the ball into the far corner. And so PSV were ahead 1-0, where AZ might have had the better of the game at that point. But PSV was a team that wanted to fight for each other to keep the victory in Eindhoven. And they did, PSV was the deserved winner in the end. Check out the league standings here.
