PSV O13 defeated by better Sparta
Early Saturday morning, PSV O13 suffered its third consecutive league defeat. The young Eindhoveners had no answer to Sparta Rotterdam's play and eventually lost the match 0-3.
PSV started the match badly and soon got the bill for this. A cross from Sparta's outside right was misjudged by the PSV defense, allowing the Rotterdammers' striker to put the 0-1 on the scoreboard. PSV was outplayed by Sparta in this phase and was lucky not to get another goal. The 0-2 fell midway through the first half. The fast Sparta striker was played the ball 30 meters from the goal, was allowed to pass three defenders and the goalkeeper and slide the ball into the empty goal.
When the Sparta storm had subsided, PSV could start thinking about attacks. Ten minutes before half time the team had the perfect opportunity to restore the tension through Joep Vermeulen. Unfortunately he did not have his sights on the ball and drove the ball high over the Sparta goal. As no more goals were scored in the remainder of the first half, the teams went into the break with a 0-2 score.
In the second half, PSV went in search of a quick tying goal. The team came out better than in the first half and started to win its duels, but could not really find space in the tight Rotterdam defense. The only two opportunities it managed to create were a prey to Sparta's goalkeeper. Just before time, the Rotterdammers added salt to PSV's wounds when Sparta's number eight shot the 0-3 from 25 meters out. This was also the final score.
So a morning to quickly forget for the Eindhoven players. A new chance follows next week, when FC Twente comes to visit De Herdgang. The Rotterdammers have one point less than PSV O13 after the same number of matches, so this promises to be another exciting match.
