    The Report

The match began messily but soon NAC took the initiative. This produced a first chance for the visitors in the tenth minute of the match, but the cross was headed just over. The first serious chance for PSV was only after fifteen minutes and it immediately gave PSV the lead. Martijn Zuijderwijk's shot was initially smothered by a NAC defender, but in the rebound Gioele Nicolaas scored the 1-0 via the inside of the post. The game then became more balanced and both teams had chances. In the 20th minute, a NAC corner was headed away by a PSV defender and in the rebound a NAC player shot just wide. Two minutes later, PSV had an opportunity to double the score, but this time it was the NAC goalie who prevented a goal. In the 26th minute, NAC had an excellent opportunity to equalize. A free kick, inside the penalty area, went through the wall on goal but Mylian Jimenez headed the ball away on the goal line. Just before halftime, PSV had another good opportunity to extend the lead further. After a nice PSV attack the shot on goal was changed direction by Dyon Dorenbosch. The NAC goalie reacted alertly to prevent a goal.

PSV started the second half strongly, putting pressure on the visitors from the start. In the 38th minute, this resulted in a free kick, but Mohamed Nassoh shot the free kick hard against the crossbar. Two minutes later, PSV did manage to extend the score. A nice cross from Deveron Fonville over the NAC central defender put Jesper Uneken free in front of the NAC goalkeeper. Jesper cleverly tapped in the 2-0. PSV should have played the game out after that, but with some fortune the visitors came closer five minutes later. A cross from a NAC player was tapped into his own goal by a PSV defender, 2-1. PSV did not let this get them down and created several more chances. The chances, however, were not taken so NAC stayed in the game. NAC pushed forward in the last ten minutes of the match and created two more chances. A shot from a NAC player went just wide and a cross from a NAC player was deflected but Jules Janssen reacted alertly. Five minutes before time, PSV could have put the game away for good but Cel Teunen's shot went just over. The final offensive yielded no more goals so the final score was 2-1.
