  1. Match report

The league end is approaching and today's opponent for the 4th time this season is frontrunner Fortuna Sittard. Leaving the first series aside, the past few games have shown that we are not inferior to Fortuna. In fact, the last few games we even had a claim to victory. Statistics say nothing this league, however, given the weekly surprising results. PSV suffered a setback the last two games and it is time for a good result again. PSV is well in the game from the start and just playing well at this stage. Good combinations, lots of movement, always a free man somewhere. Fortuna has to rely more on their physical play and are especially dependent on their fast right-wing winger who creates danger. In a duel in the sixteen Rico puts the foot of this player and plays the ball, but referee Boesten sees this as a penalty kick. In the afterthought he admits to our reporter that he decided too quickly. Nevertheless, the penalty is awarded and this opportunity is taken by Fortuna, giving PSV a 1-0 deficit. PSV does not let themselves be beaten out of the game and goes in search of the equalizer. Sem and Koen are able to run into the penalty area, but unfortunately cannot get a shot off. A chance for Joop, but he just cannot put enough power behind the ball. At the other end, we still had to watch out for the fast outside right, but his crosses were either cleared or inaccurate, so it was not really dangerous. PSV does get away well, when the referee refuses to blow the whistle when a Fortuna player goes down inside the sixteen meters. We will say as compensation for the first goal. After twenty minutes the deserved equalizer for PSV comes anyway. Arne comes in well and with a curve he shoots the ball behind the Fortuna goalkeeper. Moments later, PSV almost takes the lead when a failed shot by a Fortuna player goes towards goal and hits the post. Yassin couldn't quite reach the rebounding ball and put it in the goal. At halftime the score is 1-1 and PSV played quite well. In the second half a stronger Fortuna that looks for the duels more and tries to put pressure directly. In the second half, the PSV side becomes more restless. After about 10 minutes in the second half, Fortuna gets a free kick and their last man rushes it into the crossbar. PSV cannot combine well anymore, but with a bit more luck Greg could have equalized. However, his effort is turned away by a defender just before the goal line. Still, without playing great football, Fortuna remains the most threatening team in the second half and takes advantage of PSV's restlessness. When Fortuna took a 3-1 lead midway through the second half, the game was decided. Just before the end, Fortuna scores again to put a flattered 4-1 on the scoreboard. Based on the second half a deserved victory for Fortuna, but given the play in the first half, there might have been more in it.
