  1. Match report

The first topper in this series before the winter break is away at Ajax. We definitely want to continue the nice series today. But as everyone knows, every game consists of two halves. Two different halves that was evident today. The first half was dramatic and not really worth watching. After three minutes a carelessness in the defense caused us to fall behind 1 - 0. Totally unnecessary and the self-confidence was way down for a while. And then it goes the way it goes. After twenty minutes an attack on the left by Ajax and our defender slides the ball over the back line but with his hand. So penalty.
And so in a first half in which not a single chance was created the score is 2 - 0. No chances and still two goals.
At halftime the coach explained what was wrong and got the team back on track.
We started the game much better and the whole second half we had the feeling that we were going to do well. Already within a minute in the second half we have a big chance but unfortunately the goalkeeper changes the direction of the ball. After an hour a nice attack on the right and Martijn gives the ball to Joey who shoots the 2-1. Everything is still possible. But unfortunately the chances we did get were not cashed in. It was also a pity that the game was called off and there were only twenty players left on the field. As you can see, we were not the only ones who did not have our best day.
So we get back on the bus with a hangover because we know we could have done more today and a draw would have been more appropriate.
But we should not grieve because next Tuesday we have the next important international meeting against Manchester United in the Youth Champions League.
Then we have to be top fit and motivated again to get a result in this competition and show that we are certainly not inferior to anyone internationally.
    Good luck.
    Goodbye.
