Due to the late vacations in the south of the Netherlands, this time the kick-off for a new football season was a week later than usual. After a preparation with tournaments and practice games, today it was finally for real. For the first game the team traveled to Eindhoven-North. On "Gemeentelijk Sportpark Woensel" E.S.V. E 1 was the opponent. Under loud cheers from the injured Davy and with the new addition of the technical staff, trainer Tim on the sidelines, the game was played fiercely right from the kick-off. One fine attack after another rolled across the mat. Unfortunately it did not lead to a goal. Either the goal was just not on target or the E.S.V. goalkeeper could always get a hand or a foot in between. In the eighth minute the goal was finally scored. Joey cut free and took a devastating shot. The ball slammed into the crossbar, 1-0. Halfway through the first half it was Jay, who, after good preparatory work by first Joop and then Gregory, could only approach the goalkeeper. Eye to eye he remained calm and coolly slid the ball past the goalkeeper. Just a minute later it was Gregory, who appreciated a cross from Niels and decided the game before halftime, 3-0. After halftime the picture did not change much. The home team was forced even further back into their own half. Thanks in part to Rico's good defensive work, Pepijn's work was limited to two return balls. In the midfield, Benjamin sprinkled in some great balls. After more than half an hour of play, we could cheer again. Jay got through on the right side of the pitch and gave Gregory a chance he could not miss, 4-0. This also turned out to be the final score. Unfortunately the difference in strength could not be expressed in more goals.
