After a first week of training, the first serious practice match was scheduled today. Opponent at the Herdgang was the Belgian Lokeren.
Dressed in the beautiful new outfit, the question was how strong this new team really is.

From the first minute it was clear that the boys were really looking forward to it. The first attack immediately resulted in the first PSV goal of the 2008-2009 season. Arne shot in from the corner: 1-0.

PSV had a slight advantage but had to be alert to the counter of the Belgians. Fortunately, Tijn, Joey, Sem, Brian and Davy were able to show their defensive qualities and Merijn was a reliable lock on the door as the last one. In attack, PSV F1 has three very dangerous strikers with Joop, Arne and Brent, who will provide the necessary fireworks this year. It was Joop who scored the 2-0 just before the end of the first half. He finished off a nice attack involving Tijn and Joey: 2-0.
Soon after in the second half, PSV took a 4-0 lead. Both times Brent hit the goal.
Lokeren was most dangerous with their bigger players at corner kicks. It was no surprise that the first Lokeren goal from a corner disappeared in the net behind the chance-less Kyan. PSV did not give up and Joop scored the 5-1 from the kick-off. From 2 more corners Lokeren managed to bring back the tension in the game: 5-3. Just before the end of the second half, Arne lifted the score to the reassuring 6-3.

The third and final part of the game was a real treat for F1. Some nice saves by Merijn, some shots on the post (of which Davy even managed to hit 2 posts), a solid defense and 4 more goals (2x Joop, captain Davy and Sem) brought the final score to 10-3.

A nice, sportive match came to an end to the applause of the spectators.

Always nice for the confidence, such a first victory.
