  1. Match report

Today the league finals. A long competition with cup games, not to mention the great experience of the NextGen Series. Today NEC comes to visit and for them it is very much a final as they can still go either way depending on the result. Relegation to permanent retention is possible for NEC. The start is hopeful, especially for PSV. On the left side Moussa Sanoh regularly creates a lot of danger with his speed (NEC must know this) and we get the first chances. After 15 minutes Moussa hit the bar but no goal yet. From NEC there was little danger so far. After half an hour Tufan Özbozkurt takes a corner and Ruben Bentancourt scores.
Four minutes later Ruben again showed why he was scouted: after a good pass by Jordy de Wijs, he managed to find the net for the second time. This is probably the moment for NEC to drop all their guard and play all or nothing. Because a defeat is definitely the end in the Eredivisie. The coach (of NEC, of course) wants to play one-on-one, but first waits to see if the halftime score remains as it is.
And then there is the 44th minute, the NEC player is not given any trouble and the score at halftime is 2-1.
After halftime, NEC has a bigger share in the game and with fast breakaways they are regularly dangerous. In the 78th minute a fast break by NEC is dangerous and the 2-2 is on the board. The score remains 2-2. With today's different result, this means that NEC must play a decider to avoid direct relegation; much to the chagrin of their outfield player. For us, this means that despite the point won, we still drop one place in the rankings. So we end a somewhat disappointing season with sixth place. On to a new season with a new trainer. Trainer Libregts thanks you for last season and good luck with your new challenge and new club. But first a trip to Groningen to finish the season in a good way during the Whitsun weekend and hopefully everyone will know where they are placed next season.
Until then or until next season.
