    Match report PSV D2 - Orange white D1 3-1

Today March 12 was a pretty important day for the boys of trainer Bastiaan. On the one hand there was the registration for the new school, which for many parents takes some getting used to. The cozy elementary school in the neighborhood has to make way for the big school in Eindhoven. Although it must be said that the coordinators communicated the info loud and clear. Even the "foreigners" now knew what to expect. The players, on the other hand, apparently did not care so much. Not incomprehensible. After the D2's midweek game Wednesday against Fortuna Sittard D1 (which was narrowly lost, 0-1), it was looking forward to the topper against Oranje Wit. The return game in the league against the team that so far was still the only one that could have taken points from the D2 ( 2-2 ). And whether they were motivated.

Exactly 3 minutes we had played when Amar's turbo kicked in, cleverly retained overview and played in to Robin who put the 1-0 on the board. Talk about a good start. And Orange White had not come to dig in, they were very short on the ball and interfered immediately. The tempo was very high and because of that high tempo things sometimes didn't run so cleanly. Steven on his left flank was a scourge for the OW outside right. Time and again he rushed past them and was able to pass to well-followed fellow players. Baggio had a peg on the post at one such cross. Unfortunately for "the canker," it didn't go in. A few minutes later, again Steven with a good ball up to Cody, and he popped the ball onto the crossbar with a handsome overhead kick. Baggio again with an effort from 25 yards, into the arms of the goalkeeper. Cody with a free kick from about 30 meters but his peg splattered on the crossbar. When the same Cody unleashed his fiends a little later, bouncing with Robin on the way, Oranje Wit was done for, as Cody placed the ball neatly wide of the visiting goalkeeper to score the 2-0.
2-0 is also the halftime score. OW with some timid attempts but PSV with 3 times the goal wood and some more great chances, so game advantage was indeed for PSV.
The second half starts like the first, with a goal. Although now the time was set a little tighter. 1 minute to be exact. Huseyin with a solo and at the right moment to Cody , who pokes the ball dry into the corner. 3-0. The trainers of OW see the storm coming. Robin sends Amar (with a beautiful pass) in the depth, the cross just does not reach Cody. There is hardly time to breathe because there is already the next chance, Huseyin with a running move across the width and then at the ideal moment deep played in to Cody, but "Cood" is sweet to the opponent and does not score. All chances for PSV.

And what about the third in the stand Orange White, well, the occasional counter-punch but nothing more than that. For it was PSV that called the shots. Now, Oranje Wit was no slouch for the D2 either mind you, as they made it quite difficult for the home team at times. But there were hardly any real chances. A tangle ball that suddenly fell well for the visitors was neutralized by the "white head with the safari shoes". Then I think everyone knows who I am talking about.

A free kick with Jordan behind the ball, his blast whizzes wide of the store hook. And when it does get dangerous, with those sporadic chances from Oranje Wit, you have the two key pieces at the back. Arne and Pepijn who, if necessary, throw their all into the fray with true contempt for death. If they have to, because with the defenders in the D2, as a goalkeeper you are often a spectator. Apart from some return balls you really don't have much to do. But, you have to stay alert of course. Pepijn has to do that a few more times in the second half, and he does it perfectly.
The pace picks up again. Luc at the back with a nice hooded move and clever pass to Cody, ... It's going well again. One-time football from behind with an open canvas from the coach. Five minutes before the whistle, Baggio is hooked in the box, but the referee doesn't dare to put the ball on the spot. Another nice deep pass from Luc to Justin but the "Captain's" cross is blocked and ends up in the side-netting.

When Pepijn plays a short ball back, the visiting striker is pulled by the arm in the box and the ref does award a penalty. Correct decision of the man in yellow. Penalty kick therefore. Pepijn eye to eye with the visitor but the ball is given hard and high into the corner and there is nothing our Pep can do about it. That is the last phase of this match because after that the referee blows the whistle and the sixteenth win in seventeen is a fact.

    Final score 3-1

A well-organized Oranje Wit came to the Herdgang with the best of intentions but was weighed and found wanting. They fought fiercely for every meter, but there were too few real chances. Too few to claim victory. But, they are one of the better teams in the series.
Next week another topper. In and against FC Den Bosch. If we win, the title is within reach.

    All go there!
