Hard-fought win PSV F1 over ARC
On a chilly Saturday morning, the boys of F1 played their first friendly home game of the new year. Opponent was ARC F1 from Alphen aan de Rijn.
Star player Cody was playing with E1 against Roda JC today and was therefore missing at the start of the 4x15 minutes.
Pretty soon the match picture became clear. The Psv players showed that they had practiced their homework well. With individual passing moves they tried to get towards the ARC goal. ARC defended very compactly and tried to make things difficult for PSV through fast counters.
The first PSV goal was an instant beauty. James headed in a corner from Jordan with a swift dive: 1-0.
PSV then tried a number of long-distance shots by Bjorn, Jordan and Ruud, but the precision was lacking today.
In the second quarter, the PSV players barely managed to find each other in the rush. Each time the last pass was inaccurate and because of this ARC grew in the match. A hard shot into the short corner could not be stopped by Merijn and suddenly it was 1-1.
In the third quarter, PSV seemed to put things in order. Cody joined the team instead of James, who joined the E. First of all it was Jordan who passed his opponent at speed. A hard shot made it 2-1. A solo by Ruud ended with a shot that was not stopped by the goalkeeper. Cody was the first to score the 3-1. Shortly after, Jordan had another free kick: 4-1.
Still ARC did not give up. Loss of ball by Baggio in the back was immediately punished with a low slide into the far corner. Moments later Merijn managed to turn a distance shot into a corner, but from that same corner an ARC player was able to head in unchallenged: 4-3.
The last quarter was a memorable one. ARC quickly outsmarted Pepijn and suddenly the score was even: 4-4.
For a moment ARC seemed to push on but the next attack disappeared just wide of the goal. The ARC players even got the feeling that there was something more to gain and the defensive positions were abandoned. Well, you shouldn't do that with this PSV. After Jordan had hit the bar, Bjorn was alert to a corner: 5-4. And in the next attack it was again a success. Luc took the ball beautifully and found the net: 6-4. The final chord was for the morning's top scorer, Jordan, who this time scored from close range: 7-4.
It was a bit of a scare and they had to go deep, but in the end they won again.
Compliments to the whole team!
