Easy win for O16
PSV confirmed its position at the top of the league Saturday with a 4-1 victory at home against Excelsior. Another win for the team, although the difference in strength actually could and should have been expressed in wider figures.
PSV secured the three points within 20 minutes. In the 8th minute, Jeremy opened the scoring from a free kick that he curled beautifully into the left corner: 1-0. Although Excelsior lost the ball five minutes later and the striker fired in the equalizer from the edge of the box, Amin put things right with two fine goals within five minutes. In the 17th minute he headed a fine Heritier cross from the left at the first post, and a few minutes later he rounded off a good individual action by Beslan in a controlled manner with a placed shot: 3-1.
Assignment for the second half was therefore to extend the score further. Although Excelsior only managed to become dangerous once after the break from a free kick, which hit the post out of Robin's reach, PSV only managed to increase the score to 4-1. That goal was scored by central defenders Nigel and Manu, who combined on the other side of the pitch and Nigel scored the 4-1. Another win for O16. Another bright spot was that substitute striker Fodé played his first match since eight months.
