Busy weekend PSV O13
It was a busy weekend for PSV O13. On Saturday they had to travel to Groningen, for a cup match against local GVAV Rapiditas. And on Sunday a triptych was scheduled, with opponents KRC Genk from Belgium and Bayer 04 Leverkussen from Germany. Despite the busy schedule, all games were completed victoriously and with very good football.
The draw had paired PSV O13 with Rapiditas from Groningen. An amateur club unknown to PSV, so the assignment was simple and clear: win! From the first minutes it was clear that PSV had much more quality than their opponent. In the first minute PSV was allowed to take three corners, so the pressure was on right away. Yet we had to wait until the 10th minute before the first goal fell. After three attempts, it was Khaled Razak who opened the scoring with a shot on goal. Seven minutes later, it was Rapiditas that did a bit back. From their first attack came a corner, this corner turn in on goal, Tijn Smolenaars could not handle it enough to the side allowing Rapiditas to score. PSV played very well but struggled to score, until four minutes before halftime. In a short time three goals were scored. Twice through Khaled and one for Rayan Statty, with two assists from Renzo Tytens. So Khaled had a hat trick before halftime. After the break the same picture as before the break, a very good footballing PSV and now the scoring went a bit easier. So PSV could run out to a 1-9 victory. But most important was the quality of play the boys showed. And with such a victory the bus trip from Groningen to Eindhoven suddenly seems a lot shorter.
On Sunday, it was game day once again. KRC Genk was the first opponent for PSV. And just like Saturday also on Sunday a PSV O13 with a high level of play. According to trainer Tim Wolf this match was the best one played so far. To play so well against a strong opponent and win 3-0 is very impressive.
The second and final opponent was Bayer 04 Leverkussen. Again a club with a good youth academy and against which PSV always has a difficult time in advance. But also this match PSV dominated and kept going at a high level. This match therefore ended with a 4-1 victory.
All in all, a good weekend for PSV O13. But surely the most positive thing is the play shown in the matches. On Saturday it was normal that PSV was the best, but the opponents on Sunday were renowned clubs and certainly in the field of youth football. If the level they achieved these days becomes standard, we can expect to see many more great matches from these boys. Saturday the next league match awaits. At 11:00 am Roda JC is the opponent at the Herdgang.
