On a true first autumn day, D2 took on the footballers of Theole from Tiel. As announced, Theole achieved not bad results in the last few games. So a team with some potential and physical strength. A good start by PSV with a reasonably high ball pace. But soon it became clear that the big boys of Theole were resistant to stop PSV. PSV became a bit sloppier in passing and the tempo slowed down a bit. Some levity could be detected in PSV's play. This was well punished by Theole, within 10 minutes it was 0-2 for the visitors. The pressure was increased again and there was some more space on the flanks. This resulted just before halftime in the tying goal through a distance shot by Sven, 1-2. Theole headed for the locker rooms, while PSV were motivated by coach Niels' instructions in the autumn sunshine. This got its effect in the second half. PSV played faster football and the passes became cleaner. Michael eventually scored the 2-2 from an excellently set up one two with Endy. The strong-footed Endy provided the 3-2 lead. From the backline, Jordy stepped up the pressure once more. Partly due to his drive, Endy shot the still deserved 4-2 into Theole's goal. Theole had another excellent opportunity from 11 meters to connect with PSV, however, the ball grazed the left post, and for PSV on the right side. Afterwards, I asked assistant coach how it is that the training sessions are at the cutting edge and one does not always see this reflected in a match. "I also ask myself that same question, unimaginable that during the week at training sessions it works and it is perhaps taken up too easily in a match. Look at last Wednesday, a wonderful tournament with hard working and technically good footballing team, and that today, still a world of difference. But yes, we have the points again and will look forward again to the game against Geldrop next week."
Boys, trainers and coaching staff, Congratulations!
