Today the D2 played the first home game against Willem II. After last week's 0-12 against UNA, we might have more trouble with the
club from Tilburg maybe we would have a bit more trouble. Justin and Amar by the way played against the club they came from
and it was especially Amar who during the period leading up to the match was being booed a bit by his former team mates via messages
on the computer. (I heard that from a reliable source).
You could see from both the coach and the PSV players that they were all on edge on leaving the dressing room.
The game started well for the home team because after five minutes Baggio had already popped the 1-0 in. From distance, just outside the sixteen.
A rakish blast.
The visitors were not really impressed, but for most of the first period the game was played in Willem II's half.
And then when you see Baggio go in for a second time, with about a copy shot of the first, it's 2-0 right away.
So it was very easy to play football with two goals in front. Robin's 3-0 was then whistled back for alleged offside.
The attacking spirit of the home team caused the visitors to lose the pedals for a while. Jordan with a measured
cross to Cody and the rest enjoyed a perfect overhead kick from "Cood" but unfortunately for him the goalkeeper was well
well lined up and was therefore able to turn the shot.
After a free kick from Cody it is Armando who rises highest but sees his header go over. Just before half time it is again Cody who
after a clever individual shot to the short corner and the score was already 3-0. Game played you think.
Half-time score 3-0. With a predominantly better PSV. Well, start that second half, being Willem II.
After the break, it is Willem II that comes out of the dressing room the best, but they cannot really be dangerous yet. That is of course also
credit to the defenders led by a strong playing Armando. Lars, Ruud, Luc and Steven have also started to get used to each other,
which is nice for our goalkeepers Pepijn and Arne. Apart from a few backhanded balls, they have a fairly quiet Saturday afternoon.
PSV that starts to play stronger again makes the ball go round and Willem II has to chase the facts. Example is a combination over seven
Station, but the finishing Amar just cannot finish.
After 18 minutes we are startled again by a distance shot that Arne just cannot reach and the visitors score 3-1.
Do we get a match again? Yes, we do. A corner kick by Willem II allowed James to save the ball from the line. Two minutes before the whistle James goes
and sees his high cross fall into the goal. 4-1 . Book it for Willem II.
On a nice move by Justin, James gets the best chance but his second of the match is caught by the keeper.
4-1 is the final score. A strong first half by PSV killed the team from Tilburg. They could still threaten a bit but never enough to
to claim victory. A top performance according to the coach which made the PSV boys' faces glow.
