O19 hands out victory
The match between PSV O19 and NEC O19 started immediately with a nice show of support for the heavily injured Fodé Fofana. After the opening signal, Ruud van Nistelrooy's team started the match strongly. It was Shurandy Sambo who headed a well-taken corner kick by Sidibe onto the crossbar in the third minute. The Eindhoven players put good pressure on the team from Nijmegen and in the twelfth minute this resulted in a corner. From this corner by Sidibe, Kreekels ran the ball in at the far post, a deserved lead. The game then went up and down and the biggest opportunity before half time was for Sidibe, but his shot only just went past an outstretched leg of a NEC defender.
After halftime, it was again Sidibe who caused danger. He cut out his opponent, but curled the ball just wide. PSV continued to create chances, but the finishing touch was lacking. And in injury time the team got the lid for that. A far throw from NEC ended up at the far post and out of nowhere the Nijmegen team equalized. Undeserved, but the harsh truth.
The next match is on Saturday, May 18. PSV O19 will then play in Alkmaar against AZ O19 at 3 p.m.
