The report
Today the cup match between PSV O19 and Feyenoord O18 - for a place in the final - was on the program. Mark van Bommel's boys did not really start the match focused, this gave Feyenoord an opportunity in front of Youri Roulaux's goal already in the first minute. Despite the early warning, PSV was still not really awake and remained sloppy in passing.
In the 11th minute, Bertalan Kun cut through the Feyenoord defense and found the free Zakaria Aboukhlal. The latter took the ball instead of shooting it directly at goal. This allowed the Rotterdam goalkeeper to pluck the ball off his foot. A minute later it was Joël Piroe who shot over after a pass from Amar Catic. The game went back and forth. PSV and Feyenoord both gave away too many spaces, creating opportunities. But it was Feyenoord that took the lead in the 30th minute. A cross from the side was headed in: 0-1. PSV had a few small chances after that, but it was not until the 41st minute that they came alongside. A corner kick by Michal Sadilek was headed by Catic and played into Davy van de Berg, who blazed the ball into the net. With a 1-1 score, both teams headed for the locker room.
After halftime, PSV came out of the dressing room strong. A cross from Aboukhlal was headed in by Piroe, only the Feyenoord goalkeeper stood in the way of a second goal. Mark van Bommel's team continued and created good opportunities. The match was in complete control. It took until the 76th minute before PSV actually took the lead. A good cross from Catic landed on the head of substitute Sekou Sidibe towards Yorbe Vertessen, who headed in the 2-1. PSV seemed to be in the clear, but a cross at the far post was shot in hard by Feyenoord just before the end of the game, which levelled the score 2-2. So PSV had to look for another goal to avoid the penalty shootout. And it worked. The attack started with a nice opening by Steven Theunissen to Catic, who accelerated past his opponent. His cross came to Piroe, who did not hesitate with a direct shot at the goalkeeper. The deflected ball ended up at the feet of Vertessen, who shot the 3-2. PSV had a narrow escape in injury time, when a Feyenoord attempt hit the outside of the post.
This victory puts PSV O19 in the final of the cup, the opponent must come from the other semi-final match between sc Heerenveen O19 and Feyenoord O19. Next Saturday, PSV O19 will play a home match against FC Utrecht O19 in league play. Kickoff: 2 p.m.
