During the Easter holidays PSV U 12 had played a good tournament at Marc Overmars in Epe, the three-day tournament ended with a great 2nd place, Feyenoord was too strong in the final and won the tournament convincingly, but the boys had shown in this tournament that they had a lot of strength and football skills. The good form that the team had shown during the tournament had to be shown again today in the league match against Sparta Rotterdam. The guests from Rotterdam are at the top of the league with only 6 goals against and as many as 21 for. Right from the first whistle it was clear that PSV would not just give the Spartans the championship as a gift, PSV was from the beginning the dominant side, only as expected it was difficult to score, simply because Sparta was defending very well. In the 9th minute they did get there through a good cross from Dylan, but unfortunately the connection was just too late to run into the ball and nod it in. The picture remained the same throughout the first half, with PSV playing well but just unable to find the gap in the Sparta defense. In the break the trainers put the dots on the i again, they should be more careful with the little chances they got, the game was good and satisfactory but the deserved goal was still missing.
The second half again the same picture as before the break, a good playing PSV but also a good defending Sparta. Mylian tried with a free kick but it went just over, immediately Sparta wanted to start building again, PSV put good pressure and recaptured the ball, the ball came to Dylan and he tried just outside the 16 with a good shot. The Sparta goalkeeper was in the right position and could easily catch the ball. It looked like the liberating goal was imminent. Martijn also tried his luck with a shot but this ball was also in front of the good Sparta goalie. Sparta had no chances throughout the match, although a free kick from about 20 meters seemed threatening but was in the hands of Lander. There might have been more in it today but they had to score. The field play was certainly very good and also the fight and passion on the PSV side was not lacking. And while you may deserve to win, you have to score. Still, compliments to the PSV players with this good match. Next week the lads can enjoy a football-free weekend, to travel to Fc Twente early in the morning the week after, and if they show the same game as at the tournament in Epe and today's match then the points will surely come with them to Eindhoven.
