PSV started the match well and quickly tried to force an opening. However, the home club stood well and PSV struggled to find an opening. PSV could therefore hardly create any chances in the first half. NEC was also unable to create any chances so it looked as if both teams would go into the break with the glasses down. However, this was not the case. Five minutes before halftime, PSV scored. From a corner by Mathijs Nigel headed in the 0-1. Two minutes later PSV scored from an identical situation. Now it was Jayden who headed the ball in so PSV went into the break with a large lead.

From the start of the second half, PSV tried to extend the score. In contrast to the first half, PSV managed to become more dangerous in front of the home team's goal. PSV lacked sharpness or a player of the home club prevented a goal. Sporadically NEC was dangerous but they could not score either. In the last minute Jeremy put the final score of 0-3 on the scoreboard. A deep ball from Djurre was completed effectively by Jeremy.
