The Report
Today the number 1 against the number 2, or PSV against Feyenoord. With everything on and on, the excitement and pressure of playing at Varkenoord, in short, a good school. Matches that unfortunately are played far too little in this youth competition.
PSV also suffers a setback in the warm-up, when Seb Loeffen receives a ball on his wrist. During the match, pictures were taken at the hospital, as a fracture was feared, but fortunately it was not serious. In the first half, both teams put up a lot of fight and the game went up and down at a high pace. PSV does not get into their own game because Feyenoord is on top. The home side took the lead in the 12th minute with a good shot that was unstoppable for Niek Schiks: 1-0. This also seems to be the half-time score. But PSV can take a corner in the last minute before halftime. Ruben van Bommel puts the ball in the sixteen meters. Luc Netten heads the ball behind the Feyenoord goalkeeper: 1-1.
After the break it is PSV that starts to play more dominant and puts Feyenoord under pressure. Yet it is Feyenoord that manages to take the lead again through a well-executed counter. Feyenoord's quick right-winger works the ball brilliantly into the net to make it 2-1. This is the signal for trainer Tim Wolf to take even more risks. A few changes in the team and playing forward is his advice. PSV pushed Feyenoord back well, but it took until the last minute for the risk to pay off. Milan Govaers lays the ball down behind the last line. Here it is Jesper Uneken who manages to head the ball in: 2-2. Given the pattern of the game a fair result.
