The report
RECTIFICATION: Last week, the match report of the PSV O15 - Ajax O15 match stated that for PSV's third goal, the beautiful deep pass came from Matteo Dams. This is not correct. After studying the footage together with the VAR, it appears that the splitting pass came from the foot of Milan Govaers. Herewith the correction.
Then today: yet another wonderful affair. Because Feyenoord came to visit. Already the third time both teams have met this season. Previously they played twice in Rotterdam. In the league it ended 1-1 and in the cup PSV sneaked a 1-3 victory. Under different conditions than the last few weeks, gray, grey, windy and drizzly, both teams played.
The first opportunity was for the guests when a corner was headed wide. Feyenoord was the team that played a little easier. Logical perhaps, as PSV did not play in the regular formation. Two O14 players started in the starting line-up. Nevertheless, the home team was able to create danger now and then. But the final pass or occupation in front of the goal was substandard at those moments. After Feyenoord had again headed just wide, the third header from the Rotterdammers was good. Again the danger came from a corner, but this time the Feyenoord striker headed the ball in at the far post. Just before, keeper Niek Schiks saved a shot from close range, but this time he had no chance. Feyenoord increased their lead to 0-2 in the final minute when they converted quickly after losing the ball around the halfway line.
After halftime, the game was a little more balanced. And in the 45th minute, PSV brought the tension back. A brilliant free kick by Sven Simons came back into the field via the underside of the crossbar and the fingertips of the Rotterdam goalie, after which substitute Shi-jon Martina slid the ball in: 2-1. PSV felt there was more to come and the faith came back a bit. PSV felt there was more to come and almost came alongside when a cross from Emir Bars was shot hard against the inside of the post by the Feyenoord right back. The home club was unlucky to get the ball back into the field. A few minutes later the visitors tied the game when the striker's shot hit the bar and the outside left put the ball into the net. The game ended 1-4 when the Rotterdammers scored in the final minute. A perhaps slightly flattered, but justified victory for Feyenoord against a young and physically light PSV. That did see the O14 boys do a fine job today.
