  1. Match report

PSV D2 had an away game this weekend at the always tough FC Den Bosch. Twan Scheepers' team left for Den Bosch with a complete squad for the first time this season. Would PSV D2 be able to keep their unbeaten status today?

In the first five minutes of the match, the teams feel each other out. PSV starts the match less sharp than last week against Baronie. The game mainly takes place between the two penalty areas. There is more ball possession for PSV, but due to sloppy passing and a Bossche team that puts good pressure, that ball possession ends too soon every time. Although there were no chances in the early stages, the goal did come after 8 minutes. With a quick throw-in, Ymanuel Hurkmans sends Mats Grotenbreg away on the right. Mats lays back to Giovanni Nicolaas, Gio shoots at goal and Matthias Verreth, who is in the path of the shot, extends the ball with his heel into the goal. Because Matthias is in an offside position, the goal is disallowed. Also after this disallowed goal the big chances remain out. Den Bosch makes it difficult for PSV by playing fiercely (but correctly). After fifteen minutes the excellent Roel van Linschoten steamed up from behind and played Zohair Labyad to the edge of the penalty area. Zohair's cross seems to curl dangerously toward the top corner, but the goalkeeper picks up the ball easily anyway. Three minutes later, PSV is really dangerous. A combination between Gio and Matthias is completed by the latter with a shot on goal that is cleared before the goal line. Dante Rigo's rebound from the sixteen-meter line disappears wide of the goal. After twenty minutes, the opening goal finally falls. An attack by Den Bosch ends in the hands of Ieke Scheerhoorn, who quickly passes to Matthias. With a clever pass Matthias puts Mats in front of the goalie and Mats coolly rounds off for the 0-1. Until halftime this score remains on the scoreboard. A messy first half in which PSV created few chances. Also Den Bosch is not dangerous.

Just like before halftime, PSV does not show its best game in the second half. In the first five minutes there are even a few opportunities for Den Bosch. With a shot that goes just wide, a header over the goal and a chance that is saved by Ieke, danger is created in front of the PSV goal. At the other end, there are opportunities for Joey Konings and Dante but their shots are blocked at the last moment by Den Bosch defenders. After 8 minutes in the second half, PSV extended the lead. Matthias sends Joey deep who keeps an overview and passes to Ertem Bölükbas. Ertem's shot was blocked, but the rebound was for Matthias, who blasted in the 0-2. Five minutes later the game seemed to be decided. Matthias passed two opponents, the ball ended up in the hands of Ertem, who outplayed his opponent and scored the 0-3. Shortly after this goal, Den Bosch almost gets the final blow. Ymanuel plays Joey who sends Matthias in the direction of the back line. Matthias lays back but the shot by Ertem disappears over the goal. A few minutes later Dante looks to score with a nice long distance shot, but the goalkeeper saves with style. There seemed to be no problem until 3 minutes before time Den Bosch scored the 1-3. The Bosch team then tries to push on, but apart from a small chance which Ieke has to save with a foot, nothing comes of it. The biggest chance was for Joey, who, sent away by Zohair, played the ball too far in front of the goalie. In the end, PSV wins 1-3 in one of the lesser games of the season. However, if they also win these, against better opponents, then it looks good for the rest of the season.
