  1. Match report

It giet oan! No, not the Elfstedentocht. Because it is absolutely not yet the weather for that (fortunately....), but the league start for PSV o15. This year, the team is led by Edwin de Wijs and his assistants Vincent Heilmann and Theo Lucius. The opening game of the competition was a cracker. Because Feyenoord was a guest at De Herdgang. After two practice wins (1-3 at AZ and 12-0 against OJC Rosmalen) and a convincing victory over Fc Dordrecht in the cup (7-0), now Feyenoord.

The team lost to Ajax for the Supercup last weekend with a korfball result (4-6). So spectacle. Today too?

Under warm conditions, Feyenoord kicked off at 11:30 a.m. At 11:31, PSV kicked off......because after only 22 sec the guests managed to open the score. A long ball from the Rotterdammers was played back to the goalkeeper by a PSV defender, but unfortunately Peter Strijbosch chose to take the ball before kicking it away. Not taking into account that a fast Rotterdam attacker could suddenly be in front of him and block Peters' shot in such a way that it disappeared into the goal: 0-1. Not exactly the start you were waiting for as a PSV player.

Feyenoord could not enjoy the lead for long. The home side came alongside in the third minute. Midfielder Mathijs Tielemans got some space in the penalty area and slid the ball into the left corner in a controlled manner.

Despite the hot weather, the game was played at a murderous pace. The game undulated up and down. Goals hung in the (warm) air. And also fell like ripe apples.

Feyenoord took another lead in the 8th minute. A free kick midway through the Eindhoven half was flicked into the 16 where a Feyenoord player was able to head in (too) easily. PSV again found themselves behind. And were lucky that a Feyenoord player headed the ball over after a corner. The guests continued to be dangerous, especially through stationary situations.

PSV tried to create danger. And deservedly equalized in the 16th minute. Striker Jayden Braaf received the ball from Kees van Lindert about 20 meters in front of goal, turned well away and took a devastating shot. The ball disappeared brilliantly into the top right corner. What a great goal!

Just after the equalizer, PSV had two chances in one attack to take the lead for the first time. Jayden bumped against the outstretched leg of the outgoing goalie, after which Mathijs thought he could score from the rebound. However, his shot was fabulously touched by the Rotterdam goalie and turned into a corner.

PSV continued to attack and should have taken the lead in the 25th minute. Should have, but it didn't happen. After a fine action by Kees on the back line, he allowed Jayden to score from close range. To the surprise and dismay of everyone wearing PSV glasses, he slid the ball past the wrong side of the post.

A minute later, PSV took the lead for the first time. Mathijs put Jason Pigmans away and he stroked the ball over the goalkeeper: 3-2. As Alberto Puts had a narrow escape from a Feyenoord player at the last minute after a razor-sharp counter, PSV looked to go into the dressing room with a lead. But in the dying seconds Feyenoord took advantage of inattention on the PSV side and made it 3-3.

What a first half!!! The crowd was in dire need of some refreshment. In the full sun such an open match......It could also immediately look for an abacus because halfway through already 6 goals and plenty of chances/opportunities, that promised something for the 2nd half. And that too contained many chances, opportunities and goals!

The start was for PSV. Jayden led the way by shooting over a cross from Jason. And Joost de Schutter also looked for the goal too high. Not until the 44th minute did Feyenoord come in front of the Eindhoven goal for the first time. The distance shot went far wide and was therefore harmless. PSV countered with an attack in the 46th minute that gave them another opportunity to take the lead. Jeremy Antonisse saw his effort get out of the goal area and saw the attack continued through the other end. The end result was a shot that went wide.

The game undulated more up and down from then on. Peter Strijbosch saved in the 48th minute when a Feyenoord player suddenly appeared in front of his goal, and a minute later Jayden was threatening after good preparatory work by Jason. However, no goal was scored.

That happened in the 50th minute when the good Rotterdam left winger went in with the ball at his feet and shot the ball into the far corner: 3-4. PSV could once again go in pursuit. Would it be able to show resilience for the 3rd time and come alongside again?

Yes indeed! It could. Because in the 59th minute, the home team got back to 4-4. Birthday boy Amin Doudah picked up the dropped ball. And took the gift by shooting the ball through a forest of legs into the bottom left corner from the edge of the 16-yard box.

In the last 10 minutes, both teams had great chances to take the lead. First PSV swerved when Feyenoord's right-winger shot at the post. The home side then sloppily played out an overtime situation and got a big chance in the last minute when substitute Jur Clabbers was able to put his head to Amin's cross, but was unable to give it enough speed and direction.

Thus ended this lively game in a goal-rich 4-4. Where 6-8 or 8-6 could have been just as good. The team was able to overcome three deficits. And despite the heat, they kept fighting until the final whistle of the excellent referee to keep the three points in Eindhoven.
