  1. Match report

On Saturday morning, PSV D2 left for Breda for the championship match against JEKA D1. A victory was enough for Twan Scheepers' men to win the championship in the 2nd Division C. PSV started the match with a complete selection, completed by Cody Mathès Gakpo who played regularly with the D2 this season.
Already after 5 minutes the opening goal falls which leads to great joy in the field and on the bench. Mink Peeters played Matthias Verreth to the keeper, who controlled the ball from the penalty spot into the corner: 0-1. A minute later we already see the next opportunity when Matthias finishes a pass from Ertem Bölükbas with a shot into the goalkeeper's hands. Shortly after, our Belgian striker seems to score again when he finishes a cross from Giovanni Nicolaas with a nice lob, but the ball is cleared off the line by a defender. Gio's corner that followed was volleyed wide by Matthias. Plenty of chances for PSV, but the second goal has to wait until the 14th minute. An attack via Matthias and Ertem is completed by Mats Grotenbreg with a dry hit into the right corner: 0-2. JEKA can hardly do anything in return. PSV put pressure early and if anyone threatened to come near the Eindhoven sixteen meters, defenders Jeroen Swinkels, captain Koen Vos, Roel van Linschoten and Ties van de Eijnde intervened resolutely. Goalkeeper Aaron van Engelen hardly has to come into action. In the last 8 minutes before halftime, PSV expands the score considerably. It starts with a free kick from Ties to Mink whose effort is cleared by the goalkeeper. Matthias was quick to tap in the 0-3 from the rebound. A minute later Matthias again scored the 0-4 with a beautiful shot. And we don't have to wait long for the 0-5, which comes a minute later. Joey Konings, sent deep, is floored on the edge of the penalty area and while everyone is waiting for the referee to whistle, Mats cleverly slides the ball into the empty goal. The ball just counts and with a safe 0-5 we go to rest. The championship is in the pocket.

After halftime, Ieke Scheerhoorn, Ymanuel Hurkmans, Dante Rigo (after his game with the D1), Twan Demin, Zohair Labyad and Cody enter the field and PSV just continues where it left off. From the first whistle, the attacks follow each other in rapid succession. After a combination between Mink and Zohair, it is the latter who shoots into the hands of the goalkeeper. Moments later, Dante and Zohair were dangerous with shots that went just wide. Three minutes after halftime it is already a goal. Ymanuel sent Cody away on the right, he returned the ball to the back line and Matthias shot in: 0-6. The 0-7 also comes from Matthias who escapes offside on the halfway line and makes no mistake in front of the goalkeeper. In the 10th minute after halftime, it is the turn of Cody who taps in a free kick from Zohair to score 0-8. Matthias and Dante then almost score the ninth but both just missed the mark with their shots. The 0-9 is then scored by Cody who soloed nicely through the JEKA defense and calmly finished it off. After this goal, PSV is obviously on the hunt for double digits. Twan and Gio think they can make it, but even with combined forces they just don't succeed. Finally, in the 20th minute, it is Cody who runs in the 0-10 after good preparatory work by Mats. In the last 10 minutes there are still opportunities to expand the score, but basically everyone is waiting for the final whistle. When the whistle finally blows, the joy is great: the title is won!

After the first dances of joy, the team and coaching staff are honored on the field. Then of course there is a shower with clothes on and lots of shampoo. At the Herdgang the team is honored again and of course there is a festive and healthy meal.

With great force the D2 took the title in the 2nd Division C this season. We saw many good matches and also a few lesser ones that were won on character. Twan Scheepers' team made a nice development this season which was crowned this weekend with the championship!
