The report
On this beautiful Saturday of Carnival, a wonderful game was scheduled. Mark van Bommel's boys (PSV O19) had to take on Johnny Heitinga's boys (Ajax O19) at home.
PSV O19 started the match well, but it was Ajax that got free in front of goalkeeper Van de Meulenhof in the 8th minute through a counter. The PSV goalie kept his goal clean with a beautiful reflex. After this opportunity it was PSV that gained more control over the match. Through Lonwijk, Catic, Piroe and Aboukhlal the PSV boys created a number of good opportunities. Due to wrong choices or crosses do just a little too hard, numerous opportunities were lost in the first half hour. That was really unfortunate, because PSV played a good first half at that point. It was a good thing that goalkeeper Van de Meulenhof was in good shape, because it was in the 35th minute that he again reacted quickly to a shot inside the sixteenmeter. PSV had been warned about the switching moments of the boys from Amsterdam.
After halftime, PSV continued playing good football and got quite a few opportunities again. And Akax came out dangerous with a few good counters. This was the picture until the final whistle. For everyone present at the Herdgang a great game to see. That the game ended in 0-0 was justified. The next match of PSV O19 is an away match, on Saturday February 17 against NEC/FC Oss o19.
Lineup PSV O19: Van de Meulenhof, Wallenburg, Daverveld, Soulas, Theunissen, Sadilek, Aboukhlal, Van de Berg (72, 'Sidebe), Piroe, Lonwijk and Catic.
