On a drizzly Saturday afternoon was the kickoff for the D2. The rivals from Oers were armed to the teeth. With 5 coaches along the line eleven sharp footballers on the field and some still on the bench, RKVVO started the game very combative. PSV struggled and with difficulty the free man was found. It even resulted in a 0-1 deficit halfway through the first half after a splitting pass from midfield. And we must say, not entirely undeserved, RKVVO rose above itself, was fierce and eager for the ball. Shortly before halftime Michael was brought down on the left in the penalty area. The referee could make no other decision than to award the eleven meter to PSV. Jorrit slid the ball in in a controlled manner. An important goal just before half time. Daan had to intervene strongly again, otherwise PSV would have faced a deficit just before halftime. After halftime PSV tried with 3 new fresh forces. Working hard and toiling, often too long on the ball, PSV tried to get through the sturdy Oer(s)strong defense. A beautiful shot by Vinnie was only just tapped over. Finally it happened, a beautiful fast attack over the left put Jeroen in a wonderful scoring position. The crowd was already counting the 2-1, but at the last moment the shot was just parried by a defender in front of an empty goal. Finally, just before time, RKVVO itself had to help PSV to victory. The ball fell after a duel behind the defense where an RKVVO player shot very unlucky into his own goal. A disappointment for RKVVO and a stroke of luck for PSV. But..........even less good matches you have to win to eventually become champion.
