PSV O13 regains lead after difficult win

Despite playing a very tough match, PSV O13 managed to keep the three points in Eindhoven. Opponent AZ was eventually beaten 2-1.

PSV opened strongly and seemed to take the lead within two minutes. A free kick was laid ready to the head of Sami Bouhoudane, but the striker headed in the 1-0 from an offside position. Not much later, the Eindhoveners opened the scoring anyway, when Raf Vullers put Sami Bouhoudane away. The striker seemed to go down, but stayed upright and passed the goalkeeper with a hard shot. Despite this early lead, PSV could not get a grip on AZ. The team lost many duels and was very careless in ball possession. The biggest chance until then was for AZ, but PSV goalkeeper Lucca Kiaba had a great reflex eye-to-eye with an AZ player. Just before half time the deserved equalizer fell, when an AZ attacker was able to tap in a cross from the side. This 1-1 draw also marked the half-time score.

In the second half, the picture of play did not change much. PSV played very restless and struggled to create chances against a well-playing AZ. On the other side, PSV goalkeeper Lucca Kiaba was alert when an opponent appeared in front of him and the Alkmaar players missed a huge opportunity by shooting the ball over two meters in front of goal. Fifteen minutes before time, PSV did take the lead. Joep Willems played the ball to Isaï Middag, who played himself perfectly free between three defenders and tapped the ball under the Alkmaar goalie. After this renewed lead, PSV had to go backwards, but despite a disallowed goal, the Eindhoven players were not in trouble anymore.

Without playing great themselves, PSV O13 thus pulled off another victory. Because rivals Ajax and Feyenoord played equal, PSV is now leading the Autumn League O13 on goal difference.

After a practice match against NEC (Tuesday at 17:30), the team meets FC Twente for the league next weekend. The match in Enschede starts at 12:30.
