  1. Match report

Today the last game of the competition. Opponent VVV D2 still has a small chance at the championship, given the 2 points lead over Fortuna with 2 more games played. VVV has been a fearsome opponent this league, because they have not taken a point from this team yet. All teams except Fortuna and VVV have won at least once. In the beginning, both teams had to test their chances. VVV is missing ex-PSV player Bjorn Bastiaans due to injury and he has proven to be a tormentor in previous matches. The match takes place mainly in midfield. Yet after about ten minutes VVV takes the lead when VVV shoots in a deflected ball. PSV is facing a 0-1 deficit. PSV is not discouraged by this and goes in search of the equalizer. VVV can be kept reasonably away from the goal, but it takes a while before PSV gets their first opportunities. Joop appears in front of the VVV goalkeeper, but he can turn his effort away. Also through the sides some balls are brought in front of the goal, but they just do not end up in front of a PSV player. On the stroke of half-time the deserved equalizer came. Joop is well served by Remco and the score is in balance again. In the second half, PSV is looking for the win. From behind, the midfield is found well and the forwards can let themselves go. Where PSV was beaten by VVV in previous matches, today most of the duels are for the PSV players. Nobody shies away from the duels and this is a prerequisite for a good result. PSV dominated the second half and through Remco, who was played free by Joop, PSV took a 2-1 lead. PSV failed to close the gap by extending the lead. Therefore, it remains exciting until the closing stages. VVV came in the last minute dangerous for the PSV goal and the effort of a VVV player can be cleared by Tijn just on the goal line (or just over the goal line, this is still unknown) so that this time the victory stays in Eindhoven. Thus, the last league game is ended victoriously and a changeable league season with ups and downs is concluded well. Hopefully this form can be taken to Amsterdam next Saturday.
