Final on the Future.
As mentioned last week, today we will see who has the Future. To keep sight of the scale, we had to win today. AJAX also has this intention. The beginning is nervous from both sides. AJAX, which has fielded everything that can play, is also nervous. For them, too, winning is actually a must given the schedule. And of course they want revenge for the defeat at the Herdgang. After about fifteen minutes, an AJAX attacker gets into the sixteen and the whistle blows. Penalty. Ball on the spot. They know what to do with it. 1 - 0.
We did not allow ourselves to be distracted and continued to believe in our play. There were no real chances for either team until halftime. And so we went into the break with a 1 - 0 deficit due to a penalty.
At halftime, we cleared our heads and got our heads together. We have to believe in ourselves and there has to be more spirit in our game. We are too sweet.
No sooner said than done.
After the break it was a different game, we imposed our will on AJAX and went for the deserved equalizer. After ten minutes the moment is there. Matthias appreciates a pass from Dante and scores the well-deserved equalizer with a clever slide. We want more. Only three points counts for us. Then it becomes a more open match. With chances for both teams, although it has to be said that most of the best chances are ours. But time passes and the score is not what we want. We want the three points. AJAX is also pressing but our defense is solid.
In the 89th minute Dante takes a free kick. The ball goes to the goal and the goalkeeper breaks free. The incoming Sam scores. A whistle and the bench is upside down. Offside. Goal disallowed.
Injury time begins. How long? We went on the attack. In minute 93, the ball is crossed and the AJAX defense is not alert and there it is. SAM scores the well-deserved 1 - 2.
Everyone is ecstatic. All players celebrate this goal as if the championship is already in the bag.
Thirty seconds to go and then the final whistle blows. A deserved victory especially based on the play of the second half.
