Under a lovely sun today the match against NEC. A special match because trainer Twan did his exam at our match today for the "match coaching" part of the TC 1 youth football course and also because NEC could use the points in the fight against relegation.
The start was a bit dull (probably due to the nice weather) and the game went up and down and there were no real chances. In the 23rd minute this changed and a quick attack was set up on the left and the ball was crossed and there the NEC striker got in front of our defender (who was looking into the sun or enjoying it) and headed the ball via the inside of the post. 0 - 1. After that PSV was more on the attack but it was all a bit thin from our side. Duels were lost too easily or entered too passively. In the 30th minute Okan finally had a shot on goal. Robert also had a good chance but he also shot wide. Okan again from a free kick but just over. The chances came but were not taken. In the 44th minute a quick attack on the right, Elvio passed his defender and crossed sharply and Jurgen scored with a header that was unstoppable for the goalkeeper. This was also the score at halftime. In the second half we started more fiercely and wanted to make the difference. But NEC got the first chance again from a free kick. After about half an hour our defence lost its way but Nigel managed to prevent worse. In the closing stages Memphis got in front of the goalie but hit the post and a shot by Tufan ended up in the hands of the goalie. We tried everything or nothing but there was no more goal. Also NEC didn't score anymore (which could have happened just like that) because Nigel was alert to a few good chances of NEC. The score remained 1 - 1 and NEC was happy with this point and so were we.
Next week to Ajax, who can win the championship against us given the other results today, and Maikel will miss this match due to the yellow card he got today.
And also next week against Ajax the exam of trainer Henk.
Oh yes, congratulations to trainer Twan.
