Great comeback in topper
After a weekend vacation due to carnival, another league match was scheduled for Saturday. Feyenoord came to visit, which means that it will be a difficult game. When the Rotterdammers are not playing their football, they can always switch to a hard-working team. For PSV O14 there was only one goal today: win. This to not let the gap with leader FC Utrecht get too big. A win would increase the gap between Utrecht and PSV to two points. It was a game with two faces, in the first half Feyenoord were fiercer and more aggressive than the home team on all fronts and were rightly leading 0-2 at half time. In the second half things turned around and PSV O14 were the fiercest team and managed to turn the game around completely. Three hard-fought points for PSV after a good comeback.
Feyenoord started the game brightly, applying a lot of pressure, forcing PSV to play the long ball. In the duels that ensued, the Rotterdammers were often the boss. PSV did manage to create a few chances, including a cross from Renzo Tytens that hit the bar and a shot from Bram Rovers that went just wide. In the 18th minute it was Feyenoord that took the lead. The PSV defense did not look good here. Four minutes later, after again far too weak defending by PSV, the scoreboard read 0-2. But PSV had the biggest chance in the last minute. Tim van den Heuvel had the ball in its sights, but it ended up in the side netting. Also, Emir Bars managed to hit the post in the same minute.
At halftime there were some pretty harsh words. Because playing less football is possible, but this cannot be done with the effort that had been shown. So more willpower and commitment were asked, or perhaps demanded. If they would give everything, it had to be good. And yes, supported by the wind at their backs, all the players in the second half fulfilled the demand that had been made of them. Being proud to wear the PSV shirt and giving everything. In the 50th minute, Isaac Babadi played Emir, who in turn played the ball back. Isaac then manages to curl the ball beautifully into the far corner: 1-2. In the 60th minute Brian van de Boogaard managed to work the ball in, after a corner from Isaac: 2-2. Immediately afterwards a shot by Jason van Duiven, after an impressive solo, but the Feyenoord goalkeeper managed to stop it. After a deflected Feyenoord corner it was PSV that came out very quickly. Khaled Razak got one-on-one with the Rotterdam goalkeeper, but the substitute was too selfish and kicked the ball against the goalkeeper instead of playing it off to Isaac who was running free next to him. Jason headed the ball wide after a good cross from Renzo Tytens. In the 68th minute it was Jason who on character made it to the back line, passed an opponent and managed to get the ball through in front of the goal. For Emir a small trick to run the ball in. With a few minutes of injury time left, PSV managed to give nothing more away and a deserved and great discharge followed.
Next week an away game in Utrecht against the leaders. With a win, PSV can call themselves leaders, so a great match ahead. Taking today's lessons with us, or giving everything from minute one, and not just one half. Then there should be opportunities to take the three points back to Eindhoven.
