At the Herdgang today we played against FC Eindhoven, the leaders in our league. In the away game we had a very difficult time and lost. We hoped we could do better today.
In the first half we showed a very high level but unfortunately this was not reflected in the score. We were already down 3-0 after 20 minutes of play. A good shot inside the post, a personal foul and a corner gave us the slip. We were also unlucky in the finishing. Mohammed Ihattaren and Jur had opportunities, but missed.
We said in the break that we had to keep up this game and then the goals would come. Fortunately this did happen. Mohammed Ihattaren scored the 1-3 after a solo by Mathijs. Five minutes later it was Niek who found the nest. After a nice shot by Mathijs against the crossbar, Niek scored the rebound with half a corner. 2-3. We had hope for victory again.
In the last 25 minutes we were going to do everything we could to still win. After fifteen minutes of play it was again Mohammed Ihattaren who popped the ropes. 3-3. We saw that we were stronger and went for the win. Jur luckily took care of the lead five minutes before time. In the sixteen-meter area he took the ball and quickly shot in. A real striker's goal. 4-3. With a few minutes left on the clock we seemed to win. Eindhoven took more risk and in the counter it was Niek who shot his second in a controlled manner. 5-3. The referee decided to play on and Eindhoven took advantage of that. Far into injury time they scored the 5-4 from a corner.
We showed today that we are making tremendous progress. We were better than FC Eindhoven and worked like lions for each other. This resulted in a nice 5-4 victory. Next week we will visit FC Eindhoven.
