The report
After some International tournaments, Saturday the league started again for PSV O14. Also in this league a new start after the winter break, with the best eight teams from the Netherlands.
The well-footballing AZ was the first opponent in the new series. On the bus to Alkmaar it was already clear that the wind could be a determining factor today. Two good footballing teams played a game of a very high level despite the storm that was blowing across the field. PSV showed in this match that they have made new steps and deservedly took the three points back to Brabant.
Both teams were evenly matched in a match with few chances. The game went up and down from sixteen to sixteen, but real attempts on goal were sparse. Jason van Duiven managed to deliver a good cross that went tightly in front of the goal, but the other attackers were not connected in time. AZ on the other hand did not get beyond a stray distance shot either. Thus both teams went to the dressing room for tea with a 0-0 score.
After half-time the same picture as before half-time: good football, but the defenders of both teams gave nothing away. AZ got a chance because PSV goalkeeper Bart Hamers could not clamp the ball at first, but via the post the ball did get into Bart's hands in the second instance. The biggest chance of the match was for Tim van de Heuvel, who got into a 1-on-1 situation with the AZ goalkeeper. Tim unfortunately did not manage to pass the goalkeeper. However, it was soon clear that the team that managed to score would also be the winner. Four minutes before time it was Khaled Rhazak who tried his luck with a long-distance shot from about twenty meters. With the wind blowing from the side, the ball kept swerving towards the corner. The AZ goalkeeper hit the ball, but was unable to stop it. Thus a good goal by Khaled.
Despite the weather conditions, a good game from both teams. PSV showed they can score in every game. With that said, they can go back into the league with confidence. ADO Den Haag is next Saturday the next opponent, against whom points should be taken.
