The winter break is over and today we played our first league game of 2013 in Maastricht. Many guys had been sick this week but luckily we could still go to Maastricht with the full selection. We had already won twice from this team, so we were hoping for a good result today.
We started well. We played the ball around, had an advantage but did not create any real chances. After fifteen minutes of play, things went wrong. Within five minutes MVV had scored twice. Two shots from distance over our goalkeeper. 2-0. Otherwise they had not been dangerous yet.
In the second half we hoped to turn this around. We changed some players and we had some chances. Unfortunately we hit the crossbar and the post. Just before half time MVV scored the 3-0. The distance shot was first turned away by Robin but in the rebound it hit the net. We knew it would be difficult now.
But we went into the third half in good spirits. Heritier only played a quarter of an hour because he was sick and in that quarter he was very dangerous. It was Mohammed-Amine Ihattaren who gave us a little hope. He was sent into the depths and scored in a controlled manner, 3-1. A few minutes later it was over. MVV quickly scored the 4-1.
We saw today that we all have to be top fit and 100% sharp to win a game in our league. Today we were not all fit and therefore sloppy on the ball. A good learning moment. Next Saturday we play at 9.30 am in Kerkrade at Roda JC.
