The report
After last week's qualification for the championship pool, there was no pressure and stress on Saturday and so the expectation was that they could play freely. Nothing was further from the truth. The game remained messy and there was no clear line. Sparta also played along merrily. There were some minimal chances, but they were missed as expected. It would be almost half an hour before we got a good chance and Djenario managed to find the net immediately. Finally the 1-0 lead and the hoped-for calm in our game. That calm did not come yet, even though about five minutes later Cees was able to get the ball to Djenario again, with his second of the game he put the score at 2-0. Then now the calm in the game had to come. But within five minutes Sparta's midfielder managed to come up and with a nice distance shot he managed to beat Aron and put the 2-1 on the scoreboard.
At halftime, the finishing touches had to be added. And within five minutes Heritier steamed up along the line and put Noni in position and the 3-1 was a fact. Afterwards, it appeared that the referee flagged the third goal as an own goal by a Sparta defender. In the remainder of the match, Jeremy had another good chance, but he pounced on Sparta's goalkeeper. PSV was unable to take advantage of the few more chances they got. We brought the 3-1 to the end and the three points stayed in Eindhoven.
With two games to go, a high ranking still awaits the team. Two more away matches to PEC and Excelsior and then we will enter the deserved winter break. On to the ultimate goal: the championship.
Happy weekend and see you next week, Ronnie glad to have you back.
