With once again a large number of C-players in the ranks, the O16 left Saturday for The Hague for the important match against ADO, which was 1 position lower in the league table and is battling with PSV for a place among the top places in connection with the split 2nd half of the competition. PSV played a fine match, was dangerous in attack and was able to keep ADO off the pitch defensively quite easily. Striker Joel boosted his already good average with 3 typical striker's goals.
PSV has had more difficult afternoons in The Hague. As far as the usual battle was concerned, PSV got away with it quite easily, and ADO played into PSV's hands with its fast attackers by giving away a lot of space in the back. As early as the 4th minute, Amar was able to go from the halfway line at full speed on his own to the goalkeeper, who only just managed to keep out his marker. After fifteen minutes PSV took the lead anyway, when Sekou got the ball after a good action of Cody in the penalty area and shot suddenly into the right cross, 0-1. Even before half-time Joel made it a comfortable 0-3 with 2 goals, in the 27th minute in the rebound after a pinball situation in front of the Hague goal, and in the 37th minute after an excellent cross from Tijn, who came up on the right.
PSV did not get into trouble at all in the 2nd half and had several good opportunities to extend the score, especially from some lightning-fast breakouts by Amar. Nevertheless it was Joel who, after a good action by Cody, was in the right place when the goalkeeper let go of the ball, and with a volley made his 3rd of the afternoon and made the final score 0-4.
A fine victory for the O16 that next week for the cup awaits a trip to...The Hague.
