This morning the 6th league match of the season is already scheduled. Opponent today is mid-table VV Geldrop. A team not to be underestimated given the recent results, namely a minimal loss against Den Bosch and Willem II. Geldrop also proved to be a formidable opponent in the E League two seasons ago. This was immediately evident in the early stages of the match. Where previous opponents operated from a closed defense, Geldrop wants to play forward. PSV's loss of ball in the back already leads to a near chance for Geldrop after 2 minutes. PSV is searching in the beginning, but after 5 minutes the first good attack can be noted. PSV builds up from behind and Remco's cross is shot by Joop into the side-netting. Immediately afterwards a chance for Greg but he shoots over. Two minutes later the goal was scored. A tip-in cross from Greg is worked in by Sem. The difficult opening phase seems to be forgotten and we take the lead. However, this lead does not give PSV the peace of mind and it is difficult to find the free man, which makes the build-up difficult. After about ten minutes Geldrop gets a free kick on the edge of the 16 meter in a dangerous spot. The ball is shot in hard, but Kyan is ready for it. The referee decides that the ball went in too early, so the free kick can be taken. This one is again on target, but Kyan is again well placed. In the 18th minute the fourth good opportunity for PSV. Good pass from Jay who sends Greg away, but he taps the ball wide of the goal. In the 22nd minute the inevitable happens. PSV loses the ball and the striker gets away with it and passes Kyan. In one go the score is level again. PSV is clearly not playing their best game today. The 1-1 is the score at halftime and we wonder if we can turn the tide. PSV looks for the lead in the early stages of the second half. Greg is sent away and in front of the goalkeeper he sticks the ball wide. A minute later a good cross from Greg to Yasin, but the ball ended up just behind him. Another minute later a cross from Niels that Greg gets wrong on his head. Plenty of chances in the opening stages. Geldrop seems to retreat to their own half now anyway and only sporadically gets into the PSV half. In the 7th minute the next chances come along. However, Yasin shoots at the goalkeeper and in the rebound Remco shoots at the goalkeeper. There are days when things are not going well. Apparently today is such a day. In the 10th minute good cross Niels and chance for Mo. PSV could and should have decided the games in this phase. Geldrop seems to get through these skirmishes well and regains some control of the match, at least defensively. In the 15th minute, PSV gets another good chance through Yasin, who puts the ball wide of the goal, face to face with the goalkeeper. As the final whistle approaches, PSV is playing more and more against themselves and Geldrop's belief in a good result is growing. PSV can't make a difference anymore, so the match ends in a disappointing draw. But disappointments can also be learning moments.
