PSV O14 wins away game at Ajax

An important match for PSV O14 Saturday, Ajax had put up a monster score against Sparta last week, so today PSV could show where it stands. After a game that went up and down, on a great turf, it was PSV who could take the three points to Eindhoven. Ajax was the better side in the first half, but PSV recovered well in the second half. And managed to secure the victory.

The first words from trainers were "press faster," so there would not be much room to play football today. The teams were evenly matched, with the game going up and down at a fast pace. The slippery field also helps with this. Because the game is going up and down so quickly, both teams are throwing a lot of wrong passes. This did not lead to any real chances as both defenses kept it tight. Until the 30th minute, when the first chance of the match is created. It is PSV, which at that moment has a little more pressure from Ajax than it can give itself, who get the first big chance. It is Jason van Duiven who can head the ball inside. But the ball unfortunately goes wide. Ajax manages to score against that in the first half. In the last minutes they were able to take advantage of the miscommunication at the back of PSV and tapped the ball in. That was a bummer for PSV, but at halftime it was made clear that they had to be even fiercer and the leg would not be pulled back.

But immediately after halftime it was Ajax that got a great chance, Bram Rovers mis-hit the ball and so the Ajax striker found himself face to face with Bart Hamers who narrowed his goal well, the Ajax player spooned the ball over Bart, but the ball ended up in the side netting. From the counterattack, it was PSV that managed to score. After a good cross from Renzo Tytens it was Tim van de Heuvel who was able to head the ball cross in. Now the game was really loose and one minute later it was Khaled Rhazak who saw the ball hit the crossbar. The game was back on track, but PSV did not let Ajax get into their game by being on top of things. Both teams got small chances, but both goalkeepers did not budge. In the 49th minute it was Emir Bars who hit a cross that went well past the far post. Everyone thought chances were gone, but Isaac Babadi managed to get the ball into the far corner and work it in. Ajax began to press more, but PSV was dangerous on a few breakaways. No more goals were scored in the remainder of the match, so the points went to Eindhoven.

All in all, a good match for PSV, in which they showed that they can handle the resistance. But also that with the instructions given at halftime, they know how to quickly turn them into actions and immediately put them into action. This match should give the players more confidence for the future, that there is nothing to fear.
