  1. Match report

After the flying start of our canners last week (17-1 victory over DBS), the question was whether they could follow that up appropriately in the away game against WVVZ. We have to say that they certainly succeeded. This time, after a lead at halftime of 0-7, it actually became a 17-0 victory!

As the result suggests, there was also a very big difference in quality this time. However, the PSV players were able to show a bit more of their passing and pinging skills as WVVZ compared to DBS tried to play more forward creating more space for passing the opponents. Especially in the moments when they played from behind, this allowed our youngest talents to show their qualities.

After a somewhat messy and sloppy start of the match (was it too early this time?) it was Ruud who hit the net after 5 minutes. After a pass from Robin he left the WVVZ goalie defenseless for the first time. This was followed by 3 goals in 3 minutes.

The first one was made by Robin who scored the 0-2 on a pass from Jordan (very nice action of him on the back line and also good overview by pulling the ball back to Robin). Jordan himself scored the 0-3. After a pass from Baggio across the shaft he was able to get through and shoot the ball into the goal. From a corner from the right by Luc it was Robin who with a half volley with the outside of his right foot put number 4 behind the WVVZ goalie. We were 8 minutes in and once again on our way to a monster score.

The boys took a step back (how professional can you be?). In the 11th minute our keeper Merijn was able to prevent a goal by WVVZ by running out very well and capturing the ball before WVVZ could become dangerous. On the ensuing kick out he even shot his boot out!

In minute 14 and 15 the next 3 goals followed. These were scored by Cody, Robin and again Cody. The first by Cody he scored with a nice shot with his right foot after he had passed several opponents from the left, inside towards goal. Very soon after that Robin captured and ball from the back defender of WVVZ and coolly as always he scored the next one, 0-6. Right from the kickoff, Cody snatched the ball from an opponent, ran past everyone and shot the 0-7. Although there were certainly some minutes left to play until halftime, the referee soon after thought it was enough and he blew for halftime.

In the second half, it was Björn and James in particular who were on a good run of form in terms of finishing. Both scored a hat trick, Björn even totaling four goals.

Björn's first (the 0-8) he scored in the 2nd minute of the 2nd half with a fantastic shot after a solo down the left side from Cody. Right after that it was the turn of James who briefly got it on his extraordinarily flexible hips (inside locker room information) and scored 3 goals in 3 minutes! The first with his head after a cross from the right from Robin.
Number 2 (the 0-10) he scored entirely on his own power by consecutively passing 6 opponents including the goalkeeper across the axis and kicking the ball into the goal. In the fifth minute of the 2nd half James completed his hat-trick after good preparatory work by Jordan on the left wing.

By now it had become 0-11 and there were still 15 minutes to play. Baggio was the next in line of goal scorers. After a nice 1-2 combination, he scored 0-12 in the ninth minute. Björn scored the 0-13 behind the WVVZ goalie shortly after with a nice tight and placed shot. In the 14th minute Björn scored again, this time after a very quick and nice attack set up by Ruud and Robin. After scoring the 15th PSV goal in the 15th minute, Björn could also add a real hat-trick to his name.

In the 16th and 17th minute Ruud also scored twice. The first after a nice dribble from the left and the second with a shot after a corner taken by Björn. This made the final score 0-17.

For both goalkeepers Merijn and Pepijn there was again little to do during the match. Both only had to come into action once. After the match they were able to show their qualities when taking the penalty kicks. That this could come in handy for PSV one day cannot be denied. After all, the biggest prize our club has ever won was brought in after the goalkeeper stopped a penalty. That there are prospects in that area is shown by the fact that Merijn stopped one penalty and Pepijn stopped two.....

Next week follows a home game against RKVVO F1, start 10:00 am at De Herdgang.
