PSV O13 prepares for championship fall competition

With one more round of games to go in the fall competition, PSV O13 has unofficially secured the winter championship. The Eindhoveners defeated Vitesse 3-1.

PSV could have taken the lead just a few minutes in. Isaï Middag played itself free on the edge of the penalty area and placed the ball into the far corner, but the Vitesse goalkeeper was able to get a hand behind the effort. After this attempt, PSV's level dropped, allowing Vitesse to get into the game better. The Eindhoven players were very sloppy in ball possession, had a lot of trouble reaching the forward and halfway through the first half Vitesse took the lead. Goalkeeper Stijn Kuijsten managed to turn away the first effort of the Arnhem striker, but he was unable to convert the rebound. Shortly after the opening goal, PSV had a good opportunity to equalize, but Dichano Bulo's hard shot hit the post. At the other end, Vitesse was dangerous, but an Arnhem player in a free position headed over. Thus both teams went into the dressing rooms with a score of 0-1 at halftime.

PSV realized that the level had to rise in the second half and equalized soon after the resumption. Joep Willems laid the ball back from the back line to Boet Mulders, who shot the ball tightly into the crossbar. Not much later, the Eindhoveners even took the lead when Sami Bouhoudane capitalized on a fantastic cross from Gino Verhulst. PSV kept up the pressure on Vitesse and got a number of good opportunities, but Pieter van der Beek and Sami Bouhoudane did not have their sights set. The third goal came fifteen minutes before time, when Abdullah Hekmat was left free from a corner kick. With a simple header the defender decided the game.

With one game to play themselves, PSV is defending a 22-goal lead over already outplayed Ajax. So next week, the team can finally secure the championship in the autumn competition, when it visits Sparta Rotterdam. Kickoff is at 12:00 pm.
