A practice match against KRC Genk was scheduled today. Both teams had agreed to divide the match into three periods.
In the first period both teams were evenly matched. Football was good without creating many chances. One of the rare opportunities for PSV was a direct hit. In the 14th minute Aboubacar shot low into the corner from distance (1-0).
The second period started out evenly matched, although PSV had the best chances. A drive by Quinn was spotted by the goalie and a shot by Thijs hit the outside of the post. A shot by Yorbe in the 34th minute hit the target (2-0). A few minutes later Thijs shot the ball hard after a nice pass from Mathijs (3-0). PSV dominated the remainder of the period but no more goals were scored.
In the third period Genk started the game brighter and put PSV under pressure. In the 51st minute, a Genk attack was successfully completed (3-1). Not much later, a wrong pass in the PSV backline was intercepted by Genk and the ball rolled agonizingly slowly into the goal (3-2). Two minutes before time, PSV did not defend well and a Genk player fired in the equalizer (3-3). In the last minute, PSV pulled out the victory. A nice cross was well finished off by Quinn (4-3).
A useful practice game in which both teams played well.
