PSV D2 played a home match against JEKA D1 from Breda on Saturday at the Herdgang. To stay on the heels of leader Willem II/RKC D2, this match had to be won by Twan Scheepers' men.
From the start of the match it is clear that JEKA is not going to make things difficult for PSV today. PSV dominates and has about 80% ball possession. In the 5th minute the first opportunity when a double one-two between Dante Rigo and Matthias Verreth is shot into the side-netting by the latter. Two minutes later, the ball does hit the target. A free kick on the right side of the pitch (unjustly given) is curled beautifully into the far cross by Zohair Labyad with his left foot: 1-0. The 2-0 falls very quickly after the opening goal. A free kick just over the halfway line is quickly taken by Matthias. He passes the ball to the deep sprinting Mink Peeters, who hits the ball low into the corner from the penalty area. It then takes until the 17th minute until the next goal. It starts with a nice action by Mink who sees his shot saved on the line, a rebound by Dante which is also cleared off the line and Ertem Bölükbas who also sees his rebound saved by the goalkeeper. When Mink's connecting corner is worked over the line by Zohair it is 3-0. A few minutes later Mink almost scored again, but his free kick went just wide. Still before halftime it is 4-0 after a beautiful attack via Matthias and Dante which is eventually completed by Mink. At the break Roel van Linschoten is dangerous but his long distance shot goes just wide.
In the second half we see the same picture. PSV dominating and JEKA barely getting past the halfway line. Regularly the spectators are treated to beautiful, fast attacks. The only thing PSV forgets to do is to express the difference in strength in goals. The first danger after halftime came from Twan Demin, who hit the post with a free kick. After 6 minutes the 5-0 falls after a brilliant attack that starts at the back with Ymanuel Hurkmans who beats his opponent and plays Giovanni Nicolaas in midfield. Gio played himself free and played Joey Konings into the penalty area, who in one move put Mink in front of the goalie. Mink then coolly rounds off, scoring his third goal of the day. A few minutes later it is Mats Grotenbreg who is sent away by Gio, but his shot goes wide. Midway through the second half, it then becomes 6-0 when Mink put Joey in front of the goalie and Joey lashed out hard. After this goal we see some nice attacks and opportunities for Joey and Dante, but they don't score anymore.
A fine victory for PSV that could have been higher. But no worries, because leaders Willem II/RKC lost to Baronie, so PSV took over the lead again. It would be nice if 'we' don't relinquish it for the rest of the season.
