The report
The third match of the competition once again earned PSV O13 three points. In a match that was full of a lot of fight and passion, it was PSV that was 3-1 too strong for NAC Breda, at home at the Herdgang.
It was the guests from Breda who started the match brightly, to which PSV did not really have an answer for the first ten minutes. But after the opening phase, PSV got more into the match. Not really with eye-catching football, but PSV also rolled up their sleeves and joined the fray. In the 15th minute, a NAC player got the ball against his arm. Nobody thought about a penalty, but the referee whistled for it. PSV O13 has already missed several penalties this season, so it was nail-biting whether this one would go in. But Renzo Tytens stayed cool and neatly shot the ball in. After the match it was clear to see on the footage, that the player in question moved towards the ball with his arm, the referee had seen it correctly. PSV clearly became stronger, only a shot by Renzo lacked power, Michon Roelofs just could not reach a cross with his head. And a shot by Khaled Razak was well turned away by the NAC goalie. PSV went into the break with a slim 1-0 lead.
PSV came out of the locker room with the plan to quickly increase the lead. And this was done two minutes later. Renzo delivers a pass in the deep, it is Khaled who is the strongest with some pushing and pulling. This puts Khaled 1-on-1 with the goalkeeper and he slides the ball into the far corner. The desired bigger lead is thus quickly established. NAC went on to try to get the tying goal. Due to some individual mistakes, PSV became restless at the back, but NAC was unable to score. In the 43rd minute, PSV increases their lead. A free kick by Khaled is too hard for the goalkeeper to hold. Michon was the first to tap the ball in. Now PSV thinks that the three points are in. But this laxity is quickly punished, within two minutes NAC scores after mistakes at the back of PSV. This leaves the match open again, but there are no more chances until the last minute. But a wonderful save by PSV goalkeeper Tijn Smollenaars keeps the final score at 3-1.
Even though PSV did not show everything they have in football today, they got the three points this time by working hard. Now, if they are able to combine good football with this passion in the next games, they are capable of a lot. The next game will not be played on Saturday but next Friday night, at 6:30 p.m. De Graafschap will be the opponent to beat at the Herdgang.
