The report
In the fifth league round, PSV's O15 faced local ADO in The Hague. A team that so far is reasonably balanced in the standings: one win, two draws and one loss and goal difference of 5-5. For PSV it was important to get the three points from The Hague to stay on top.
Like last week at FC Twente, the conditions were difficult: strong winds and lots of rain. Then the Eindhoven team won 0-1. In the initial phase, both teams had to test each other. There were no major chances or opportunities. PSV had more ball possession, showed good field play with positive intentions. But it could not get into the final stages to create real danger. The danger came from the second line with shots from Mohamed Nassoh and Deveron Fonville and a disguised shot by Milan van de Riet in the short corner. Just before half-time ADO popped up dangerously in front of the Eindhoven goal via a counter, but goalkeeper Aron van Lare was able to save.
In the second half, PSV had the wind at its back. It sought the depth quicker and immediately got a number of shooting chances. However, Martijn Zuijderwijk and Mylian Jimenez saw their shots go just wide. In the 42nd minute, PSV deservedly took the lead. A free kick from Mohamed Nassoh landed on the foot of Mylian, who delivered the ball to D'Leanu Arts. The right defender did not hesitate and shot the ball high and hard into the roof: 0-1. Soon after, Milan and Dylan Hopman had chances for a second goal. The biggest chance, however, was for Milan in the 57th minute. Dyon Dorenbosch captured the ball from an ADO defender, ran on and laid the ball wide to Milan. He slid the ball well in at the far post, but with a reflex the goalkeeper was able to turn the ball away. Just before the final whistle ADO had another chance when a flanking ball was volleyed wide. That was all, so PSV took the bus back to Eindhoven with another 0-1 victory in a typical autumn match.
With the victory, PSV grabbed the lead and it now awaits matches against Ajax and Feyenoord, respectively. After that, we will know more about how the proportions are in the league.
