The report

PSV played a fine game against ADO Den Haag and won the match 4-2. PSV was on top for much of the match and the win was well deserved. PSV only failed to score more goals.

In the first fifteen minutes of the match, PSV already had several opportunities to open the score. PSV combined well, but the last pass was inaccurate so several opportunities could not be converted into goals. PSV was stronger than the home club and it was waiting for the first goal. It came in the 21st minute after a deep ball from Chahid el Allachi to Iggy Houben. Iggy outmaneuvered the ADO defender and shot hard inside, 0-1. Three minutes later Milan Govaers tried to outsmart the ADO goalie with a high arch ball. However, the goalkeeper was alert and was able to prevent a goal. In the 28th minute, a free kick by Milan Govaers left the ADO goalie defenseless. From 25 meters Milan shot the ball in via the inside of the post, 0-2. PSV had several opportunities to decide the game before half time, but the ball went just wide or the ADO goalie was in the way. With a score of 0-2 both teams went into the break.

ADO started the second half a little brighter, but after five minutes PSV took the initiative again. In three minutes PSV had as many chances to run away from the home club. The ball went just over or just wide, so ADO stayed in the game. ADO then got a few opportunities and in the 52nd minute ADO could score the tying goal. After PSV misfired, an ADO player was able to pass the ball to a free ADO player who nodded it in, 1-2. After this goal ADO did not continue and PSV again took control of the game. Still, ADO had a great opportunity to score in the 61st minute, but Niek Schiks turned the effort away so PSV kept the minimal lead. Two minutes later, PSV put the game away for good. After an attack by the home club was turned away, a long ball Iggy Houben was sent away and he scored the 1-3. In the final minute, it was again Iggy who was able to shoot the ball into the far corner on a pass from Chahid el Allachi, 1-4. In injury time, PSV's defense was not alert and ADO was able to do something back, 2-4. However, by then the three points had already been secured.
