    Roosendaal D1 - PSV D2
    May 7, 2011
    1-10

For the last league match of this season the real first team PSV bus had been arranged. Totally rested by the super relaxing armchairs the boys arrived in Roosendaal where RKVV Roosendaal was the last opponent of the season. Roosendaal was relegated as penultimate. In Roosendaal, the atmosphere was still very good because RBC had managed to maintain themselves in the Jupiler League by a true miracle and also RBC D2 had managed to play safely in the 2nd division in the very last round of play.

The PSV youth site rightly states in the preview that if the D2 wins it "has done a fantastic job with 21 league wins and only 1 draw". And now to keep up the motivation and commitment. After a championship this can quickly drop off, resulting in poorer results. We have not seen this with the D2 in recent weeks, compliments for the coaching staff and trainer Bastiaan who keep the boys on their toes. At training you still see the same freshness and commitment that you also saw at the beginning of the year!

The 9th of May is a subtropical day. A warm phön blows across the field which also makes for tough conditions due to the warming rubber in the artificial turf. On the sidelines I already found it very hot and came home quite heated, let alone to trot across the field... It is not noticeable in the match with the boys anyway.

From the kickoff, within about 10 seconds it is a goal but the linesman has detected offside. Then, within a single minute, it's hit at the other end. Miscommunication caused the ball to get stuck between goalkeeper Arne and the defense and the Roosendaalers managed to shoot the ball into the goal after a brave first save by Arne. 0-1, euphoria for the Roosendaalers.

Then there was time for me to study the line-up. Amar on the left, Cody on the right. Who is in the striker's box now? After the match I understand that there was no striker, today it was 4-4-2 with a diamond in midfield. In that midfield we have Koen from the D3 who got to make his appearance with the big boys today. Koen played like he hadn't done anything else all season, compliments Koen!

We were quickly down 1-0, but we were not surprised. And neither were the boys, as it turned out to be the right expectation. The pace was picking up, the ball was moving around and Roosendaal soon found themselves behind. Five dangerous attacks came to nothing, but then the equalizer followed and we went on to 1-4 at the break.

We see beautiful examples of combination football. Keepers Arne and Pepijn are playing more football than using their hands to stop balls. The, I think eighth goal, is a nice example of this. At the back, the ball is played around several times by Pepijn, Lars and Luc. The Roosendaalers think they have something to gain, put pressure but the ball quickly goes to Baggio in midfield. He gives a nice long ball to Amar, wide to Roland and calmly slides in the goal. Great enthusiasm after this goal because Bastiaan had promised in a joke with Roland that if Roland would score Bastiaan would treat to ice cream.

The total production this day ended at 10 goals. As a writer, I have noticed that in such games you also have another task, namely to constantly answer the question of how many it stands. Now that in itself is not too much trouble for me, you do something for the co-parent. It is a pity that many parents do not trust this answer and doubt it right away. I think one point of improvement for next year is that the trust in your reporters may be a bit greater (yes yes, you have to force that, I hear you say...).

For the non-believers among the readers, the goal scorers on May 9, adding up to 10 goals: Justin, Jordan, Amar 3, Cody 3, Roland (gut the 9th I can no longer decipher in my booklet, the goal scorer may come forward!).

A final game of this league concluded in fine style. What was already expected before the competition turned out to be true: the D2 was too strong for its opponents this season. We look forward to the upcoming tournaments where that will be different!
