After losing at and to Feyenoord a week earlier, there was now the opportunity for PSV O14 to show what they can do in the home game against AZ.
Already in the second minute it seemed to go the wrong way. An excellent save by Jurre had to be made to prevent them from falling behind immediately.
PSV gave their opponents too much space in the first half, allowing AZ to play along and get out quickly. In the 12th minute AZ scored a somewhat fortunate goal. A cross from the sideline was misjudged by Jurre and fell behind him into the goal. 0-1. There were chances on both sides, but neither team managed to score in the first half.
In the second half, PSV took a different approach. They were brighter and immediately put AZ under pressure. AZ couldn't get out from under the pressure and PSV went hunting for the equalizer.
It came in the 16th minute. PSV was allowed to take a free kick from the corner near the corner flag. Damian placed the ball at the second post where Shurandy, as agreed, was ready to head it in. 1-1.
With Mees, PSV had an excellent striker who did not score, but who made the defense very difficult. PSV had plenty of chances, but saw three of them hit the bar. In the 30th minute the liberating goal came when Mo was able to shoot in another fantastic PSV attack. 2-1.
A very well deserved victory after a very good second half.
